Wow, it’s hard to believe July is almost over! I feel like we were just traveling through the Pacific Northwest over Memorial Day, and somehow two months have already passed.
Here are a few things that made me happy this month.
Homegrown Flower Arrangements
We have several gardens throughout our yard that we’ve worked really hard over the past few years to expand and nurture. Don’t ask me why, but until recently, I had never cut flowers from them to make my own bouquet.
Then I read that cutting flowers can actually encourage more blooms.
Say less!
Everything in our yard seems to bloom at a different time, but I was still able to pull together this little arrangement. I fear I may now be entering my homegrown-flower-bouquet era.
Fenway + a Red Sox Game
We recently went to a Red Sox game, and it just so happened to be a field photo day, which meant fans could go onto the field and take photos with the players.
When we were walking to our seats, we noticed tons of fans lined up to enter the field. We didn’t even stop to ask what was happening; we just joined the line and hoped for the best. Next thing we knew, we were standing on the field at Fenway!
We also got to watch the Sox win their 12th game in a row, which made it even more fun to be there. Go Sox!
Brunch + Fresh-Squeezed OJ at EVA
One thing to know about me: I love fresh-squeezed orange juice. The more pulp, the better.
Before the Red Sox game, we walked along Newbury Street and grabbed brunch from Eva. I hadn’t been feeling my best, so eggs, toast, bacon, potatoes, and orange juice absolutely hit the spot.
Honestly, there are few problems a sunny patio and an aggressively pulpy orange juice cannot improve.
A Golden Retriever + Puppy-Dog Eyes
Look at this little cutie who spent our dinner at The Newes from America staring directly into my soul.
I am obsessed with golden retrievers and have been actively campaigning for one for a very long time. The campaign is not going particularly well, but that’s beside the point. My Instagram For You Page is essentially nothing but golden retrievers and orange cats at this point.
Anyway, this sweet little guy was adorable and successfully stole most of my attention during dinner.
Our First New England Revolution Game
We aren’t big soccer fans. Scratch that; we aren’t soccer fans.
But, like everyone else, we became big soccer guys during the World Cup. So when we were served ads from our local MLS team, the New England Revolution, offering two free tickets to first-time attendees, we figured, why not?
All I had to do was fill out a form, and within a few days, I received an email saying we had been selected for two free tickets to an upcoming game. Score!
By total coincidence, my brother and niece also scored free tickets and were sitting just one section over from us. My niece loves soccer, so it was especially fun that we all got to experience our first Revs game together.
The game ended up being a great one—the Revs won 4–1—and it was cool to see Matt Turner, who represented the U.S. at the 2026 World Cup, in goal.
We had such a fun night and would definitely go back. Have we officially become soccer fans? That might be a stretch. But Revs fans? Possibly.
Happy Hour at Hollis Hill Farm
We went to Hollis Hills Farm for happy hour and a light bite, and it continues to be one of our favorite casual Friday-night spots. There’s always a band playing, the atmosphere is laid-back, and their mixed drinks are consistently so good.
I once got a terrible hangover from one margarita there. One!
This time, I tried the frozen lemonade, which was delicious and, thankfully, did not ruin my entire next day.
And just like that, July is almost over. We already have a few fun things planned for August, along with a summer bucket list we’re determined to finish before fall sneaks up on us.
Catch you in August!
