Life Lately: Early September 2026

Couple standing at the summit of Mount Watatic with forest and mountain views behind them.

Wow. I can’t believe August is over and summer is unofficially done! It was a fun but stressful summer, and while I’m going to miss the warm days, I am looking forward to hoodie weather.

Here’s a little of what I’ve been doing lately as we wrap up August and kick off September.

And if you missed my last Life Lately, here’s what I was up to in August.

Lately, I’ve Been Enjoying

Some of our last remaining ice cream trips to Kimball Farm.

And seeing ALL THE DOGS ALL THE TIME.

Lately, I’ve Been Reading

After wrapping up my August reading, I started this one over the long weekend, and I was a little unsure in the first few chapters whether it was a book I could continue reading. I’ve noticed lately that I need trigger warnings over certain topics.

I gave it a shot, and so far, I’m feeling okay reading it. I’m actually really enjoying the book. I’m just unsure how I’ll handle the second half and ending.

Lately, I’ve Been Watching

The Americans! Matthew Rhys has been all over my FYP on Instagram, and I mightttt now be in my Matthew Rhys era. I loved him in Brothers & Sisters and, most recently, in The Beast in Me.

We don’t have Apple TV, so I can’t watch Widows Bay. Do I get a one-month subscription just to watch it??

I did a quick Google search to look at his work and saw that he was in The Americans. A show right up Chris’ alley, so this was an easy yes from him. We are almost done with season one!

Lately, I’ve Been Thinking About

How sore I am from our Labor Day hike at Mount Watatic. It was only a 2-mile hike, but it was straight uphill over rocks right from the start.

My lungs were burning hiking up the mountain, and my legs were screaming as we hiked down. But like, worth it, right??!

Lately, I’ve Been Getting Back Into

Our evening walks around Doyle Field Conservation. It’s only a few minutes from our house, and this is often our post-work/pre-dinner walking spot.

There are a few different directions you can take once you park. You can head through the woods or out into the fields. It’s one of my favorite places to walk, and I’ve missed it! Now that it’s a bit cooler in the evenings, these walks are much more doable and enjoyable.

Lately, I’ve Been Exploring

During the long weekend, we took a drive over to Lenox, MA, in the Berkshires. It was a chilly, drab day, so we decided to head a few hours west.

We grabbed lunch at Olde Heritage Tavern and walked around downtown for an hour or so. Highly recommend the seasoned curly fries and the salmon, grilled peach, and burrata salad.

It is SO nice here!

What have you been doing or loving lately? Tell me!
